HORDLE SPURS 2 - 0 LYMINGTON ARGYLE
Who'd be a Manager eh? After weeks of struggling on a Sunday morning to field 11 players - and being thankful that players such as John Maltby and Kriss Clapham want to actually play for us - Argyle found themselves with 17 players for this match! What a shame there isn't a Tuesday night league!
Despite the competition for places, Argyle didn't really raise their game, but then neither did Hordle.
This was a scrappy match which must have been as poor to watch as it was to play in. Argyle's inability to create anything meaningful up front - no disrespect to those playing there - was again glaringly obvious.
In contrast, Hordle attacked with the sort of ability that showed why they're likely to be this seasons champions. After defending well for 30 minutes, Argyle's defences were breached when a long ball was latched onto and cooly slotted home.
Midway through the second half, Hordle secured all three points when a defensive howler led to a simple tap-in. You can't blame the defence because if they weren't on the back foot for 80 minutes during the game, the lapses wouldn't happen. Another blindingly obvious reason why Argyle need that something extra up front.
So despite all those who turned up, Argyle huffed and puffed and lumbered to another defeat. Individually we aren't performing, collectively we can't work together and at the moment, it feels like we turn up to present the opposition with three points. If anyone feels this is harsh, email using the Feedback form via the front page - we'll happily publish the responses.
One game left on Easter Sunday. At least the chocolate eggs are something to look forward to.
